Why I Don’t Use WordPress Anymore – And What I Built Instead
From WordPress to a custom-built platform: the journey toward greater flexibility, performance, and complete control over the user experience.
🧠 Introduction
WordPress is where many people start. It’s quick to set up, has countless themes, and a huge plugin ecosystem. But as a project grows, you start to notice:👉 It reaches its limits.I wanted a solution that is:
faster
more flexible
built for the long term
So I decided to build my own system.
🟢 The Problem with WordPress
WordPress is not bad – but it comes with typical challenges:
🔌 heavy reliance on plugins
🧩 content and design are tightly coupled
🐢 performance decreases as complexity grows
🔧 changes become harder over time
👉 In short: Easy at the beginning – messy later on.
🔵 My Solution
Instead of putting everything into one system, I separated it:
Content (Contentful)
Logic (Spring Boot)
Presentation (Angular)
👉 Each layer does exactly what it is supposed to do.
🟢 Content as Building Blocks
One major difference:👉 Content is no longer tied to fixed pages.Instead, everything is built from reusable blocks:
text
images
videos
code
These blocks can be combined freely.👉 Result: More flexibility, less chaos.
🔐 Controlled Access to Content
Another key advantage:👉 Content can be restricted based on user roles. For example:
public
members only
premium users
This is managed centrally – not through plugins.
⚡ Performance & Control
My system avoids unnecessary dependencies.👉 That means:
faster loading times
full control over behavior
fewer sources of errors
🧱 Scalability
This is not just a blog.👉 It’s a foundation for:
larger applications
multiple platforms
future extensions
💡 Why This Matters
A blog today is more than just content.👉 It is part of a system:
with users
with roles
with logic
And that’s exactly what this solution is built for.

🚀 Conclusion
WordPress is great to get started. But if you want to:
build clean systems
stay flexible
grow over time
👉 you need something more. This is not just a blog – it’s a modern, scalable system.
🔚 Closing Thought
The future is not about ready-made systems, but about flexible architectures.
